Removing bat poo from your car

Have you recently washed your car? If so, chances are shortly after you have been gifted a present from the sky, possibly in the form of bat poo! The pesky critters seem to strike as soon as your car has been cleaned. We discuss how to remove bat poo effectively without causing damage to your vehicle.

If you have been a victim of bat poo, you need to act fast! Bat poo can be stubborn to remove especially in the hot weather and seriously damage the paint of your car if left for too long. This is thanks to the acid in the bat poo which is especially potent due to the bat’s diet, compared to its bird poo counterpart.

How to remove bat poo

Fortunately, bat poo is pretty easy to remove when you act fast.

All you need is water and a microfiber cloth!

  1. Firstly, don’t try to rub the poo off with the cloth. As it is filled with dirt and seeds it will be extremely abrasive and could harm your paint.
  2. If the excrement has just happened you may be able to simply host it off to remove it. If it has been there for a little while, grab your microfiber cloth and soak it in water.
  3. Place the cloth over the poo and leave it for a few minutes. The water helps soften the poo, making it easier to remove.
  4. Once the poo has softened, use the cloth to scoop up as much as you can.
  5. Repeat this step a few times until all the poo is removed and finally hose down to remove all residue.

How to prevent bat poo ruining your paint

Although impossible to avoid entirely, prevention is better than cure!
